29 October: PWDA Welcomes Promise for Redress Scheme
People with Disability Australia (PWDA) welcomes the Federal Opposition’s promise to establish a National Redress Scheme for survivors of institutional child sexual abuse, in line with the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

15 October: NDIS Citizens’ Jury Scorecard Project awarded international honour

4 May: Outrageous decision on disability wages
A decision by the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) to grant the Australian Government a further four month exemption to allow Australian Disability Enterprises (ADEs) to continue to pay workers under the discriminatory Business Services Wage Assessment Tool (BSWAT) has shocked a coalition of national disability representative and advocacy organisations.

30 April: Snapshot a wake-up call on affordable, accessible housing
The 2015 Rental Affordability Snapshot, released today by Anglicare Australia confirms that the doors to affordable, accessible housing are closed for people with disability.

7 April: Australian Cross Disability Alliance supports calls for the Department of Immigration to review decision relating to child with Down syndrome
The Australian Cross Disability Alliance supports calls for the Department of Immigration to review its decision to deny a visa to a child because she has disability, despite finding her parents fit to live and work in Australia. The Fonseka family from Sri Lanka plan to work in a Christian crisis centre in remote Australia and claim their visa application has been denied because their daughter, Eliza has Down syndrome.

6 March: International Women’s Day: DVNSW and PWDA launch project creating disability-inclusive domestic and family violence services 
This Sunday is International Women’s Day and to mark the occasion, Domestic Violence NSW Inc. (DVNSW) and People with Disability Australia (PWDA) are launching a toolkit designed to enhance the domestic and family violence sector’s response to violence against women with disability. Australian women with disability are 37.3% more at risk of domestic and family violence. In NSW, over 43% of women experiencing personal violence have disability or a long-term illness, meaning that they experience violence at twice the rate of other women.

25 February: McClure: Jobs plan welcome, concerns about tough eligibility rules 
People with Disability Australia (PWDA) cautiously welcomes some key recommendations from the final report from the Reference Group on Welfare Reform released today while expressing concerns about eligibility rules that could see claimants needing to show they can’t work more than eight hours a week with incapacity expected to last at least five years.

17 February: NDIS Citizens’ Jury to evaluate participant experiences
Participants from the National Disability Insurance Scheme will be given the chance to speak about their experience as part of an Innovative Citizens’ Jury. People with Disability Australia (PWDA) is running the Citizens’ Jury, which begins in Sydney today and continues until Friday 20 February. A report will be provided in April 2015.

10 February: A call to action on disability for all NSW Candidates
People with Disability Australia (PWDA) today launched their 2015 NSW Election Platform providing recommendations around key areas relating to disability inclusion; provision of disability support services; living in the community; violence and justice and training jobs.

06 February: Australian Cross Disability Alliance – a voice for all people with disability 
Five national, cross disability organisations welcome the funding provided by the Australian Government to form the Australian Cross Disability Alliance that will provide a voice for the 4.2 million Australians with disability.
