NDIS Appeals
Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) Individual Advocacy and Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR)
PWDA individual advocates may be able to provide support to help you navigate your NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Appeal through the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) alternative dispute resolution (ADR) process.
How can an ART Advocate help you?
- Help you understand the ART process.
- Make sure your voice is heard.
- Liaise with NDIA/ART personnel with you.
- Liaise with treating professionals
- Provide advice around evidence to support your application
- Support you to complete a Statement of Lived experience/ or impact statement.
- Attend case and conciliation conferences and directions / interlocutory hearings as part of the ADR process.
If agreement cannot be reached through the ADR process your case will be scheduled for a final hearing.
Final hearings are legal proceedings. It is appropriate for a client to have legal representation. PWDA advocates are not legally trained and cannot provide support preparing for or during final hearings.
Important note: PWDA cease to provide support for clients in ART proceedings once the matter is scheduled for final hearing.
Self-Advocacy
PWDA advocates can support you to self-advocate. Self-advocacy means speaking up for your rights, needs and choices. We can assist you with a one-off information session to build your knowledge and confidence about the ADR process.
Sometimes it can be hard to speak up for yourself when you feel ignored or that people haven’t paid attention to what you have shared.
Being a good self-advocate is about knowing you have the inner strength and confidence to speak up for yourself and make sure your voice is heard.
