NSW Alert information

The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) has put out a severe weather warning. Large areas of NSW may experience heavy rain, damaging winds and large surf.

Please check the most recent updates from NSW SES to see if your area is impacted.

NSW SES has issued alerts for these areas which may be impacted:

  • Taree
  • Newcastle
  • Sydney
  • Wollongong
  • Port Macquarie
  • Tenterfield
  • Menangle Bridge and surrounding areas
  • Liverpool and surrounds
  • Tuncurry, Forster and surrounds
  • Lord Howe Island
  • Bulahdelah and surrounds

What to do if you are impacted by this weather:

  • Get ready and keep updated.
  • Cut back any trees or branches that might fall on your house or property.
  • Park your car in a safe, covered spot away from trees, power lines and drains
  • Secure or put away items, such as outdoor furniture, trampolines and roofing iron that could blow around in strong winds.
  • Prepare an emergency kit in case you lose power or need to leave your home.
  • Monitor warnings issued by NSW SES on their website and Facebook page and check the latest weather information from the Bureau of Meteorology online.

QLD Alert information

The QLD State Emergency Service (SES) has put out a Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds.

Please check the most recent update from Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) to see if your area is impacted.

The BOM has issued alerts for these areas which may be impacted:

  • Southeast Coast and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts.
  • Damaging wind gusts developing over the Main Range and eastern slopes from Tuesday evening.
  • Subject to the position and strength of the low pressure system, risks may persist for parts of southeast Queensland through to Thursday.

What to do if you are impacted by this weather:

  • Park your car undercover away from trees.
  • Close doors and windows.
  • Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
  • Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
  • Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
  • Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
  • Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
  • Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
