
PWDA Board Director Nomination and Election Process Review
PWDA has begun reviewing the Board Director nomination and election process with the aim of making it more accessible, transparent and inclusive for members. This work will be delivered through a phased approach, with improvements introduced over time to allow for member feedback and continuous improvement.

Step 1 – Member feedback
PWDA has created the PWDA Board Director Election Process Member Survey for members to tell us what they think about the Board election process.
This includes:
- How clear the process is
- How decisions are made
- How members can be involved
- What matters to you when it comes to how our board is elected.
Member feedback will help us improve the process.
Step 2 – Prepare for nominations
Before nominations open:
- Update your membership and contact details
- Think about if you want to nominate or be involved.
Step 3 – Learn about being a Board Director
We will hold a member forum to explain:
- Member feedback from the survey
- How the nomination and election process works
- What Board Directors do
- Their legal responsibilities
- The rules we must follow.
You can also ask questions.
Step 4 – Nominations open to be a PWDA Board Director
- Eligible members can nominate to join the Board.
- Nominations must follow the rules in the Constitution and the nomination process.
- Nominations are reviewed to ensure they meet eligibility and selection criteria.
Step 5 – Meet the Candidates member forum
We will hold a member forum where PWDA Board Director candidates can:
- Introduce themselves
- Explain why they want to be on the board
- Explain how they will represent members
- Answer your questions
This helps you make an informed choice.
Step 6 – Member Election Voting
- PWDA appoints a Returning Officer to manage the voting process
- Current PWDA Members vote to elect Board Directors.
- The new Board Directors are confirmed at the AGM.
Step 7 – PWDA Board Director Election Process review
- Review process to ensure continuous improvement.

This survey is an opportunity for PWDA members to tell us how accessible, transparent and easy to understand the process is, and how we can improve information and member participation.
Your feedback will help PWDA improve the Board Director nomination and election process including how we communicate and support members to participate in future elections.
Please note, any changes must follow the PWDA Constitution and legal requirements. Information on the PWDA Constitution can be accessed on the PWDA Constitution and Policy website page.
This survey should take around 10 minutes to complete. You can answer as much or as little as you like. There are no right or wrong answers.
The survey will close on Monday 13 April 2026 at 5:00pm AEST.
