At the People with Disability Australia (PWDA) 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 14 November, PWDA members approved the appointments of Board Directors Alexandra Bignell, Priscilla Brice, Presley Chihuri, Daniel Flynn, Trinity Ford, Peter Freckleton and Steph Travers for two-year terms.
We’re excited to welcome both new and returning Directors to our Board. Their diverse perspectives, expertise and leadership will help ensure PWDA remains a ‘voice of our own’ and continues to advance the rights and full inclusion of people with disability.
PWDA thanks all candidates who stood for election and all members who voted. We also acknowledge Kevyn Morris and Eva Sifis who are continuing as Board Directors.
More details about our current Board can be found here.
At the AGM, we farewelled outgoing Board Directors President Marayke Jonkers, Secretary Suresh Rajan, Dr Haidi Badawi, Arun Barramundi and Declan Lee. We thank them for their leadership, time and guidance. Their contributions to PWDA cannot be underestimated. We’re especially grateful to Marayke and Suresh for their lengthy service and advocacy for our members and the disability community more broadly.
Following the AGM, the Board elected Trinity Ford as Interim President and appointed Stuart Mawbey as a Board Director until the 2025 AGM. Ongoing Executive Officer positions will be confirmed in the coming weeks, and we look forward to sharing this news with you.
