Help shape PWDA’s advocacy on NDIS Support Needs Assessments

Introduction
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has announced it will be introducing new NDIS support needs assessments from mid-2026.
This will include the development and customisation for the NDIS of the needs assessment tool known as the Instrument for Classification and Assessment of Support Needs (I-CAN) version 6.
The NDIA state the new support needs assessment process will be delivered in a staged rollout to allow participants to provide real-time feedback.
Throughout the development and rollout of the new process PWDA will continue our efforts to gain further information about the new process and tool.
Your feedback from this survey will help us understand how people with disability and our community feel about the new needs assessment process and help inform our advocacy to ensure the new system is a foundation for a fairer NDIS that genuinely supports people with disability to thrive.
Who can complete the survey?
This survey is open to our community including all PWDA members, anyone with a lived experience of disability or who supports a person with disability.
When does the survey close?
The survey closed on Friday 31 October 2025 at 5:00pm AEDT.
How long will it take?
The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete.
Before you begin
- All questions in this survey are optional.
- You do not have to answer anything you do not want to.
- For some questions we have included a “I prefer not to say” option.
- If any of the questions make you feel upset, you can take a break at any time.
- The feedback you provide will be de-identified, which means you will not be identified in the data.

Hi Vic, thanks for your comment. We try to provide people with multiple options to complete the survey however if you are receiving a notification to create your own survey, this is often because you have already completed the survey. Hope this helps.
