The NSW Budget was delivered yesterday and was disappointing for people with disability across the state.
Despite a record surplus, the NSW Government is reducing spending on people with disability, as the NDIS rolls out and the NSW disability budgets are reduced. This means that people with disability, who do not receive an NDIS package, will no longer have any support.
The budget did not have any measures to improve help people with disability, who are renters, find an accessible, affordable place to live despite the urgent need in this area.
A small amount of funding to increase the number of accessible train stations was announced, leaving many without lifts, ramps or other features that make sure NSW Transport can be used by everyone.
Funding for disability advocacy in NSW will end next year, and there was no change to this revealed in the Budget.
