About the Project

People with Disability Australia (PWDA) is leading a three-year project to prevent domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV) against people with disability.

The project will:

  • Strengthen the skills and confidence of people with disability to recognise and respond to early warning signs of unhealthy or abusive relationships.
  • Build the capacity of DFSV and broader community services to deliver disability-inclusive, trauma-informed prevention practice.
  • Co-design accessible resources in formats such as Easy Read, Auslan, audio, and video.
  • Deliver pilot education sessions and community conversations in regional and remote NSW before a state-wide rollout.

About the Advisory group

The Advisory group will have 6 people with disability representing a diverse range of perspectives, including First Nations peoples, LGBTQIA+ communities, individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and voices from regional and remote areas.

Advisory group work is planned to commence in October 2025 and end in June 2026. Commitment is a minimum of 6 online meetings.

All people who are selected to join the advisory group will receive payment for sharing their time and expertise.

The group will:

  • Provide advice on design, content, accessibility, and delivery.
  • Ensure lived experience remains central to every stage of the project.
  • Review and provide feedback on draft resources.
  • Help shape community engagement approaches and evaluation.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome expressions of interest from people with disability who:

  • Have a lived experience of DFSV.
  • Bring diverse perspectives, including First Nations, LGBTQIA+, culturally and linguistically diverse, and regional/remote voices.
  • Are passionate about rights, inclusion, and systemic change.
