Casey was unhappy with the service of her supported accommodation provider. She is a woman with intellectual disability and has a history of ‘challenging behaviours’.
After a year of trying to find some way of changing providers without any success, Casey contacted PWDA.
How PWDA helped
A PWDA advocate helped Casey lodge a formal complaint and investigate the actions of her service provider.
The provider proved they had no formal policies or procedures in place to help their clients with an intellectual impairment who exhibited challenging behaviours.
After discussing the outcome, Casey decided to leave her current accommodation provider, and with PWDA assistance, she finally found an appropriate accommodation provider.
