The right fit

Casey, a woman with intellectual disability and a history of ‘challenging behaviours,’ was unhappy with the service of her supported accommodation provider.

After a year of trying to find some way of changing providers without any success, Casey contacted PWDA.

A PWDA advocate helped Casey lodge a formal complaint and investigate the actions of her service provider.

The provider demonstrated they had no formal systems in place to help clients with an intellectual impairment who exhibited challenging behaviours.

After discussing the outcome, Casey decided to leave her current accommodation provider, and with PWDA assistance, she finally found an appropriate supported provider.
