Person, smiling slightly, sitting in a motorised wheelchair on a gently sloping ramp and alongside a long high railing to his left, through which palm trees and water off in the distance can be seen.

After a series of financial mishaps, Rob had accrued a significant Centrelink debt. Despite his best efforts, he was struggling to pay them off at the same time as affording day-to-day living expenses meeting his needs a person with disability.

With little hope of a resolution, Rob appealed to PWDA for assistance.

How PWDA helped

After meetings with a PWDA advocate, the advocate supported Rob at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) to request the debt be rescinded.

The advocate and Rob wrote a support letter to the court which strengthened his case.

With the advocate helping guide him through the steps of the hearing, Rob managed to attest to the complex circumstances of his case and the debt was finally wiped.
