A better financial future

Person, smiling slightly, sitting in a motorised wheelchair on a gently sloping ramp and alongside a long high railing to his left, through which palm trees and water off in the distance can be seen.

After a series of financial mishaps, Rob, who uses a wheelchair, had accrued a significant Centrelink debt and despite his best efforts, was struggling to pay them off at the same time as affording day-to-day living expenses.

With little hope of a resolution, Rob appealed to PWDA for assistance.

How PWDA helped

After meetings with a PWDA advocate, the advocate went with Rob to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) to request the debt be rescinded.

The advocate had helped Rob prepare a support letter which included his own notes that strengthened his case.

With the advocate helping guide him through the steps of the hearing, Rob managed to attest to the complex circumstances of his case and the debt was finally wiped.
