Join PWDA for a Voice of Our Own Conference
Join People with Disability Australia (PWDA) on Tuesday 1 December 2026 for A Voice of Our Own, a national event celebrating 45 years of disability-led advocacy, community and action.
Bringing together PWDA members, people with disability, advocates and community leaders, this year’s event will feature two sessions exploring disability rights, identity, inclusion and the power of our voices and stories to drive change.
Conference program
Morning session: Our history, our rights, our voices, our future.
We will reflect on 45 years of PWDA and the achievements of disability-led advocacy, while looking at the work still needed to make our rights a reality.
Afternoon session: Identity and the power of storytelling
Our afternoon session will celebrate the power of storytelling and explore the power of identity, community and lived experience in creating change. We will also announce the winners of PWDA’s Community Attitudes Creative Storytelling Competition.

Attending in person
In-person places at the conference are limited, priority will be given to PWDA members.
In-person attendance is for the full day, 9am – 4:30pm.
Joining online
You will be able to register for the online morning session or online afternoon session.
If you would like to attend both sessions, please register separately.

We are inviting PWDA members to help shape this year’s event by sharing their voices, experiences and talents.
Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are now open for PWDA members who would like to contribute to the program through:
- Presentations on topics relevant to our community
- Performances showcasing your talents and creativity
- Member Voice storytelling – sharing your experiences, perspectives and stories.
