The proposed National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026, currently before Parliament, is more than 100 pages long and includes major changes to how people access the NDIS and receive supports.

PWDA Acting CEO Megan Spindler-Smith said people are worried about what the changes could mean for their everyday lives.

“People are worried about not qualifying, but they’re also worrying about the fact that, do I actually live my life, be safe and not have to potentially go further downhill to get what I need?” Megan said.

Together, they discuss the proposed changes and what they could mean for people with disability and our families. Covering tighter eligibility, cuts to social and community participation supports, new powers for the Minister, block funding, appeal rights, and the future of choice and control in the NDIS.

This is a serious and important discussion about the future of our NDIS, the promise of reasonable and necessary support, and the rights of people with disability to live safely, with dignity, inclusion and control over our own lives.

  1. I am a person with a disability, and I do need my daily support carried out; otherwise, I would be stuck in bed all day without food I go was at a hostel when I was 35, I need social, to visit friends, and family even if they are miles away, My Support travels with and I pay for, their tickets on these trips, and I buy their support work. Their food and their accommodation Without social and recreation. I would not see my family or have a social life again
