Meet Our Participating Youth Services

We would like to introduce you to the  7  pilot youth organisations who will be working with us throughout the Creating Access project to increase their service’s accessibility.

They are:

Veritas House logo Veritas House

  • Location: Veritas house is based in Central Western NSW, delivering services to young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and in the Out of Home care system.
  • About: Veritas House is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation that was established in Bathurst more than  35  years ago and has grown to become one of the largest providers of foster care and youth homelessness services in the Western region, supporting more than  600  children and young people each year from offices located in Bathurst, Orange and Dubbo.
  • Services: Veritas House runs a range of services including:
    • Youth Specialist Homelessness Services
    • Bail Assistance Line
    • Permanency Support or Out-of-Home Care (Foster Care
    •  Non-Placement Support Service
    • Premier’s Youth Initiative
    • Homeless Youth Assistance Program
    •  Youth and Family Support Services

  • Location: Compact is based in Wagga Wagga NSW, delivering School to Work Transition programs.
  • About: COMPACT Incorporated is a not for profit, career development organisation founded in  1991. COMPACT’s purpose is to ‘Connect people, education and the workplace to promote successful futures.’ Based in Wagga Wagga, COMPACT Inc. provide their broad range of career development services and programs to schools, industry and community in the major centres and the surrounding rural, regional and remote areas in the Riverina Murray region. COMPACT Inc. offers innovative programs that increase individual Employability Skills, showcase career and education pathways, address industry skill shortages and assist workforce recruitment strategies to increase the economic capacity of the Riverina Murray region and beyond.
  • Services: COMPACT works with a range of stakeholders and offers a range of services including:

    • Work Experience
    • Pre-Apprenticeship and vocational work placements

Byron Youth Services logo Byron Youth Services

  • Location: Byron Youth Services [BYS] is based in Byron Bay, and offers a wide range of services based out of a youth centre
  • About: Byron Youth Service (BYS) is a not-for-profit charity incorporated association committed to providing services for young people between the ages of  12  –  24  years. Our services are based on a sound understanding of young people’s needs and experiences. Governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, made up of a range of local people with skills in education, government, community services, and business, the creative arts, and youth work and works in partnership with many members of the community to develop and deliver a dynamic range of programs and services.
  • Services: BYS delivers a range of services including:
    • Counselling
    • Intensive support
    • Specialised groups
    • Relapse prevention
    • Crisis management
    • Mental health assessment
    • Case management
    • Referrals to services

CORE Community Services logo CORE Community Services

  • Location: CORE is based in Western Sydney, delivering a range of youth programs. CORE’s review will focus on the crisis accommodation service.
  • About: CORE is a not-for-profit organisation which has been operating in South West Sydney for almost  40  years. CORE’s youth services programs include Drug & Alcohol programs, Child youth and family services, multicultural youth support project, youth settlement service, youth homelessness program and getting help.
  • Services: CORE runs a range of youth services including:
    • Drug & Alcohol programs
    • Child Youth & Family services
    • Multicultural Youth support project
    • Youth Settlement service
    • Youth Homelessness program

Sydney Drug Education Counselling Service Sydney Drug Education Counselling Service

  • Location: Sydney Drug Education Counselling Service (SDECC) is based in Sydney’s North shore, and delivers alcohol and drug support to young people.
  • About: SDECC is a Not for Profit, charitable organisation which specialises in providing free counselling and support for young people aged  14  –  25  with problematic alcohol and other drugs (AOD) use, and their families. SDECC works within a family inclusive, trauma informed framework and our highly qualified counsellors understand the complexities of AOD use, including any mental health issues.
  • Services: SDECC runs a range of youth services including:
    • Counselling
    • Intensive support
    • Specialised groups
    • Relapse prevention
    • Crisis management
    • Mental health assessment
    • Case management
    • Referrals to services

Twenty10 logo Twenty10 inc. GLCS NSW

  • Location: Twenty10 is located in Chippendale, NSW (roughly between Central and Redfern train stations). We provide services throughout Greater Sydney, including a fortnightly group in Parramatta, and provide telephone and web support to people in NSW.
  • About: Twenty10 inc. GLCS NSW is a community organisation that has worked with the LGBTIQA+ community for over  45  years. We provide a range of services including targeted homelessness prevention services for young people aged  12  –  25   and social support services for people over  18.
  • Services: Twenty10 delivers a range of services for LGBTIQA+ people aged  12  –  25  including:
    • Drop-in centre
    • Fortnightly social support group in Parramatta
    • Workshops and other events
    • Face-to-face counselling
    • Case management
    • Transitional housing

We also have social support groups for LGBTIQA+ people aged  18  and over (with no upper age limit) and are part of the national QLife project providing telephone and web counselling services.

Youth Action logo Youth Action

  • Location: Youth Action is based in metropolitan Sydney, and is the peak body for young people and Youth Workers in NSW. Youth Action are also the project partner alongside PWDA in the Creating Access project.
  • About: Youth Action is the peak organisation representing young people and youth services in NSW. Our work helps build the capacity of young people, youth workers and youth services, and we advocate to see positive change on issues affecting these groups.
  • Services: Youth action runs a range of programs and initiatives to support the Youth Sector in NSW:
    • Creating Access project
    • Publications and advocacy to state government on issues important to young people.
